Designed by renowned sports artist Opie Otterstad. Opie is Licensed by MLB, sanctioned by the NBA, NFL, and, NHL and has commissioned thousands of works for professional athletes, teams, musical artists and presidents. His work can be found throughout Minute Maid Park.



The Logo was designed by RARE Design, designers of the Houston Texans marks, as well as logo for the Super Bowl 51 Houston Host Committee.



The Shooting Star

Houston’s star is rising. And in true Lone Star spirit, Houston is not only a city that is a star, it is a city of stars! They call us “Space City,” a name synonymous with stars. This version of the star is representative of the star in the Harris County – Houston Sports Authority Logo.

The Base

The base is in the shape of a dome. Representative of the 8th Wonder of the World, the Houston Astrodome. Back in 1965, the Astrodome was the first of its kind and put Houston on the map in the sporting landscape.


The Ball

The Ball represents all sports. From a baseball to a golf ball, football to a soccer ball, Houston sports has produced some of the greatest athletes and moments in the history of sports.


The Inscription

“Nunquam MONORIS fortissumus corde.” Latin for “Never Underestimate the Heart of a Champion.” – Quote made famous by Houston Rockets Head Coach Rudy Tomjanovich after the Rockets won their first World Championship.
