Turned the Astros around and managed them to their first World Series title. He used analytics, made the tough decisions during the playoffs, including sticking with leadoff man George Springer after a poor ALCS, and using Justin Verlander in relief against Boston, He guided the Astros past three stories franchises – the Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees and LA Dodgers – on the way to the team’s first title in a seven-game series. Hinch led the Astros to a club record of 50 wins in 74 games and finished the regular season 101–61 while the team won their first division title in 16 years and first since joining the American League.
